PhoneBlogz allows you to blog by phone – to your own blogging software on your own server. We support direct posting and remote polling. Check out the rest of the site for more info.

We currently directly support Drupal, Wordpress, Serendipity, Blogger, Livejournal, Typepad as well as FTP uploads.

The theory is simple – all you do is call a number on your landline, cellphone or via a VoIP link, enter your access code and PIN code then leave a message. We then upload this message to your site using one of several methods.

We don’t provide our own blog site, nor do we force you to use only one system. Our aim is to support your system on your server. If your site isn’t supported then tell us and we’ll make it our goal to support your system.

Compatibility

The following systems are officially supported by PhoneBlogz. If you’d like us to interface with the system you use, we will do so, so let me know so I can start work.

Serendipity

A plugin is available for Serendipity that will allow auto–posting to your blog. More information about the plugin can be found here.

Drupal

PhoneBlogz will post both a message and the MP3 file to your Drupal installation. Ensure that you have enabled the blogapi module and that the “personal blog entry” item is checked. For more information, checkout the Drupal help page or the Drupal public forums.

WordPress

PhoneBlogz will post both a message and the MP3 file to your WordPress installation. Note that direct posting will only work with WordPress 2.0.1 and up.

WordPress

We also have a plugin available for WordPress that will poll PhoneBlogz for new messages. This means you don’t have to give out a username/password for PhoneBlogz to post. More information can be found here.

Blogger

Blogger doesn’t support file uploads, therefore all MP3 files are stored here at PhoneBlogz and a blog entry placed at Blogger that links to the MP3 file.

Livejournal

Livejournal doesn’t support file uploads either, therefore all MP3 files are stored here at PhoneBlogz and a blog entry placed at Livejournal that links to the MP3 file.

Typepad

We support direct posting for Typepad accounts – just enter your Typepad username and password, select your blog and optionally a category and you’re up and running!

FTP Upload

We can upload your MP3 post directly to an FTP server. All we need is the server name, path and a username/password.
